Click the links below for detailed information about DSSP.
When migrating to SNMPv3 security without replacing existing management infrastructure, system administrators rely on the Distributed SNMP Security Pack (DSSP). DSSP provides the following features:
DSSP Server and DSSP Remote Forwarder are available on HP-UX, Windows, Solaris, and Linux. For more detailed information, please refer for the DSSP Product Sheet.
Composed of two parts, DSSP includes the DSSP Server and the DSSP Remote Forwarder. A stand-alone DSSP Internet Management Appliance-RF provides the DSSP Remote Forwarder pre-installed on an embedded Linux appliance (contact Sales for availability).
DSSP provides a clean interface for non-SNMPv3 managers to access SNMPv3 security and management. It also allows SNMPv3 through firewalls. DSSP enables:
The following illustration summarizes how DSSP works with managers, DSSP Server, and DSSP Remote Forwarder.

DSSP adds SNMPv3 capabilities to HP OpenView™ Network Node Manager™, IBM® Tivoli® NetView®, CA eHealth™ Suite, CA SPECTRUM™, and others.
By providing SNMPv3 support to vintage management applications, DSSP offers a comprehensive approach to management security, including authentication, authorization, access control, data integrity, key management, and encryption options.
Using DSSP Remote Forwarder, SNMP requests can be carried from a DSSP Server over TCP or SSL connections through a firewall to a DSSP Remote Forwarder. The DSSP Remote Forwarder then sends the request to the agent's SNMP port.
Visit the DSSP Remote Forwarder product page for more information.
Also, a stand-alone DSSP Internet Management Appliance-RF provides the DSSP Remote Forwarder pre-installed on an embedded Linux appliance. For more information, visit the DSSP Internet Management Appliance-RF product page.SNMP Security Pack™ was our first product to add SNMPv3 support to existing network management stations. DSSP, which replaces SNMP Security Pack, adds network management through firewalls.
Additional product information is available on the DSSP Product Page.
DSSP is available on the following platforms:
