Atlanta, GA, September 26, 2000 - SNMP Research announces the release of EnterPol version 1.1. EnterPol, a member of the SecureIntelligence family of products, is a policy-based management station that includes an integrated collection of programs, processes, databases, and Java applications that forms a solid technological foundation for cooperating management applications. EnterPol's new features include the enhanced Poller, Event Log, and Simple PolicyPro, as well as an improved visual interface.
The Poller allows for timed intervals of SNMP gets on various MIB objects. Now, the gets can be performed using scripts rather than the list of MIB variables. The Poller also offers the user the ability to generate customized scripts. For example, administrators can use scripts to poll for complex values and operations, or use canned scripts that are invaluable to managers, such as minimum responses, ping, SNMP gets, or comparisons of threshold values.
The Event Log Console allows the user to view the network events that have been recorded by the EnterPol system. Events can be either notifications or EnterPol generated events. The latest feature provided by the Event Log is an improved Duplication Counter that helps manage incoming event notifications. The Duplication Counter not only recognizes repeated events, but stores the number of repeated events and reports the number of such occurrences to the Event Log Console. The administrator can easily see at-a-glance the number of times an event has occurred.
The Simple PolicyPro provides network-wide management of SNMP security and administration (SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3). The Simple PolicyPro also provides automatic distribution of usernames, passwords, access rights, trap destinations, etc. The latest feature provided by the Simple PolicyPro is the ability to reconfigure automatically when a node goes down. If a node that requires configuration is down, Simple PolicyPro will continue attempting to configure the node until it is restarted. If the node does not restart, then Simple PolicyPro issues an error for the configuration.
EnterPol provides a Java-based interface that has been improved for ease and speed of movement and integration among applications. From the EnterPol toolbar, multiple applications and multiple versions of the same application can be launched simultaneously. EnterPol also provides the ability to launch various applications from within other applications. For example, if a user wants to locate the nodes running SNMPv3, a customized network map can be created. From this map, the nodes to receive security configurations, such as the addition of usernames and passwords, can be selected and Simple PolicyPro can be easily launched from the map.
EnterPol is a member of the SecureIntelligence family of products. SecureIntelligence is a suite of products designed to manage networks, systems, applications, and services. By combining the Internet Standard Management Framework, the security features of SNMPv3, and the ease of a Web interface, this Java-enabled management software suite provides secure, standards-based monitoring and control.
